It's aged for at least 10 years, and traditionalists argue that it's during this time that the optimal balance between the bittersweet peat and oak casks is achieved. This rare peat-smoked Single Malt, from the heart of Speyside, boasts wonderful tones of peat smoke cleverly combined against a backdrop of fruitiness, floral notes, and appealing oak.

Maighstir is the result of a collaboration between Kentucky Owl® Master Blender, John Rhea, and Scotch Whisky Master Blender, Maureen Robinson. Maighstir (pronounced May-stir) is a traditional Gaelic word meaning "Master."
Most distilleries produce the same type of whisky, primarily stored in one or a few types of casks. However, Benriach creates three types of whisky, which they age in numerous casks from around the world. This diversity provides Master Blender Rachel Barrie with an extensive toolbox as she develops and experiments with the many possibilities of their whisky. From the four stills, Benriach annually produces well over two million liters of new make spirit. This includes lightly peated spirit in the classic Speyside style, heavily peated, and also triple-distilled spirit. These styles, combined with highly active cask management and aging in a variety of barrels, make Benriach the most multifaceted distillery in Speyside, and probably all of Scotland.
To compose Benriach The Thirty, master blender Rachel Barrie has used 30-year-old whisky and four different types of casks. The color is dark mahogany and the aroma reveals notes of plum, orange chocolate, walnuts, and a gentle and pleasant Benriach smoke. The taste features sublime honeyed tones, dark chocolate, and raisins, enhanced with layers of mature oak, cask, and vinous notes from the aging process. In the finish, dark fruits, walnuts, and a velvety, long, complex, and lightly smoky honeyed finish emerge.
Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old is a typical example of how a coastal whisky tastes. In this case, the maritime notes are accompanied by warm tropical breezes with fruit and floral hints. It's a mild and flattering whisky where the alcohol is masked behind gentle flavors and aromas. Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old is an excellent and uncomplicated social whisky, an exciting acquaintance, and a first step towards an age-specific core range that is now being rebuilt at Glenglassaugh.
