The color is dark mahogany and the aroma reveals notes of plum, orange chocolate, walnuts, and a gentle and pleasant Benriach smoke. The taste features sublime honeyed tones, dark chocolate, and raisins, enhanced with layers of mature oak, cask, and vinous notes from the aging process. In the finish, dark fruits, walnuts, and a velvety, long, complex, and lightly smoky honeyed finish emerge.

Benriach Malting Season Batch 3 is an elegant and highly drinkable whisky that takes us back to old Scotland. It's a whisky for anyone interested in classic and genuine craftsmanship. Benriach is one of the few distilleries that still operates a traditional malt floor. Most distilleries long ago abandoned this old-fashioned and labor-intensive method and instead buy pre-malted barley from central maltings. Benriach Malting Season is therefore an intriguing whisky to try for anyone wanting to experience authentic craftsmanship and understand the impact of traditional floor malting on flavor. To further enhance the traditional style, they have chosen to use the Concerto barley variety. It was once very common, but is hardly used anymore in Scotland.
Benriach is one of the distilleries that has modernized storage techniques and, more than anything else, shown what can be achieved with innovative cask aging. The highly acclaimed and classic twelve-year-old has now received a new recipe where three types of casks form a flavorful trio.
